The Bond of the Ordinary

Synopsis

The Bond of the Ordinary tells the story of Aarnik, a man who believes himself to be nothing more than common—neither rich nor poor, neither leader nor follower. But when whispers of forgotten mythology draw him and his friends into an abandoned temple, Aarnik discovers that the universe has chosen him for a role only the ordinary can bear: to be the balance between creation and destruction.

Surrounded by loyal friends, hidden griefs, mysterious guides, and a growing love with Akira, Aarnik confronts visions of battles and bonds yet to come. The revelation shatters his belief in a simple life and thrusts him into a destiny that no king or god could ever hold.

In a climax where shadows speak and futures bleed into the present, Aarnik learns the terrifying truth: he is not the hero, but the bond that binds heroes and demons alike.

Prologue – The Forgotten Thread

Long before time was counted, before kingdoms rose and fell, there was a whisper among the gods. They spoke of a thread woven not of gold or fire, but of the dust of ordinary men.

"When extremes collide," the sages warned, "it is not the warrior nor the king who steadies the balance, but the unnoticed… the one who walks between."

That thread was never cut. It stretched across centuries, binding fates, choosing vessels who never sought glory. A farmer. A clerk. A soldier. A teacher. And now, in a restless city, the thread had chosen again.

His name was Aarnik.

Neither poor nor rich. Neither leader nor follower. Just a man who believed he was nothing more than… common.

Chapter 1 – The Common Man

The ceiling fan groaned as it spun lazily above his head. Aarnik sat at his small desk, hunched over bills and half-written notes, his reflection staring back from a cracked mirror on the wall.

He was thirty, with no achievements worth boasting about, no scars worth telling tales of, and no fortune worth envying. He worked at a modest office, walked the crowded lanes of the city, and came home to silence.

And yet, silence never left him alone. It whispered.

"Why you? Why only you?"

He rubbed his temples and muttered, “Why me? Why only me… when I am just… a common man?”

The question lingered in the air, heavy as smoke.

Chapter 2 – The Spark

Life, as always, refused to stand still. At the bus stand the next morning, Aarnik saw her.

Akira.

She wasn’t stunning in a cinematic way, but something about her presence cut through the chaos of honking horns and rushing commuters. Her eyes carried rebellion, her smile dared the world.

She caught him staring and tilted her head.
“You look like someone who doesn’t belong here.”

Aarnik blinked. “Here? I’ve always belonged here. This city, this crowd, this… normal life.”

“Normal?” She laughed softly. “Or pretending to be?”

The bus arrived, swallowing her words. But they echoed in Aarnik’s chest long after she vanished inside the crowd.

Chapter 3 – The Circle of Friends

Evenings were for chai and chatter with Aarush and Reyansh, his oldest companions.

Aarush, with his jokes and quick grin, always lightened the air, though his eyes carried a grief he never spoke of. Reyansh, dreamer and drifter, believed in omens and stars more than schedules and salaries.

That evening, as laughter rang around their tea stall, a stranger approached.

Advik.

Sharp suit, sharper eyes, carrying a heavy, leather-bound book. He placed it on their table as if it belonged there.

“History doesn’t repeat,” Advik said calmly. “It hides. And sometimes, it chooses common men to reveal itself.”

The friends exchanged confused looks.

Aarnik reached for the book. Its pages were filled with sketches of mythological pairs: Krishna and Arjun, Karna and Duryodhan, Shiva and Shakti. Each bond was drawn not as glory, but as balance.

And on one page, crudely sketched, stood a faceless man in the center of a circle.

Chapter 4 – Whispers of Myth

Nights turned restless.

Aarnik began hearing whispers. At first, faint like wind. Then, clearer. Voices calling him “The Chosen Balance.”

Akira, when they crossed paths again, confessed something startling.

“I dreamt of fire and oceans,” she said, staring at him. “And you were there. Unburned. Unbroken. Just… standing.”

And then came Anya.

She appeared one evening like she had always belonged in his life. Dressed in white, her eyes calm, her voice carrying the weight of destiny.

“You are not poor, not rich. Not forgotten, not remembered. You are the middle, Aarnik. The axis. And when the axis tilts… worlds fall.”

Her words burrowed deep, turning every ordinary moment into a question mark.

Chapter 5 – The Temple

It began with a rumor. An abandoned temple on the city’s outskirts. Murals that moved when no one watched.

The group—Aarnik, Aarush, Reyansh, Akira, and Advik—went together.

The air was thick with incense and dust. Faded paintings covered the walls, but as the torchlight flickered, the images seemed alive. Gods, demons, wars, bonds of loyalty and betrayal.

And then Aarnik froze.

There—on the far wall—was a mural of himself. Ordinary clothes, ordinary face, painted centuries ago, standing at the center of gods and demons.

His breath caught. “Why me? I did nothing. I am no hero… just… common.”

Advik’s voice was steady. “Exactly. Gods cannot trust kings. Demons cannot trust saints. Only a man with no extreme—no crown, no chains—can hold the truth without breaking.”

Chapter 6 – The Shadow Named Aran

The shadows stirred.

From the corner of the temple, a man stepped forward. Tall, calm, with eyes like bottomless wells.

Aran.

“You think you are ordinary, Aarnik,” he said, voice like a whisper and thunder at once. “But you are the pause between creation and destruction. Without you, neither survives.”

The air trembled. Akira grabbed Aarnik’s hand.
“Don’t leave me in this chaos. Even if you are common, to me… you are everything.”

The murals cracked, dust falling like ash. The temple quaked, as if rejecting the revelation.

Chapter 7 – Bonds of the Heart

Life outside the temple did not return to normal.

Aarnik and Akira grew closer, their bond forged not in candlelight dinners or long walks, but in stolen glances, late-night talks, and shared silences heavy with unspoken fear.

Yet the thread of destiny was cruel. Aarush began breaking down, his laughter thinner, his silences longer. Reyansh started sketching strange symbols he claimed came from his dreams.

And Aarnik? He felt the weight of worlds pressing on shoulders meant only for carrying groceries and office files.

Chapter 8 – The Unveiling

Visions began to bleed into reality.

Aarnik saw Aarush kneeling on a battlefield drenched in golden blood. Reyansh standing on a bridge between fire and stars. Anya chanting with glowing eyes. Akira holding a child who bore his eyes.

And always, Advik and Aran locked in combat, circling each other in mirrors that stretched into infinity.

He realized then: He was not chosen for power. He was chosen for powerlessness.

Because only the ordinary could bind the extraordinary.

Chapter 9 – The Collapse

The temple called them back.

This time, the walls crumbled as they entered. Light and shadow fought across the murals. The air hummed with forgotten hymns.

Aarnik stood at the center, trembling. “So I… am the bond?”

Aran’s smirk cut the silence. “The first bond. And when the others awaken… the world will remember the Common Man.”

The ground split. The group clung together. Akira pressed her forehead to Aarnik’s shoulder, whispering, “Even if the world breaks, don’t let go.”

Chapter 10 – The Thread Continues

Darkness.

When Aarnik opened his eyes, he was back in his apartment. The ceiling fan spun quietly. The mirror was no longer cracked.

On his desk, the old book lay open. New words burned across the page:

“The next bond reveals itself soon.”

He froze. In the mirror’s reflection, Akira’s silhouette appeared, holding a child with his eyes.

And just behind them, in the corner, Aran’s shadow smiled.

Fade to black.

Teaser for Next Part

The book closes with a chilling promise: “The next bond reveals itself soon.”

Who is the next to awaken?
What secrets lie in Advik’s book?
Why does Aran’s shadow linger, smiling in silence?

And above all—can a love as fragile as Akira and Aarnik’s survive when destiny demands sacrifice?

The saga continues in the next chapter of The Bonds of Fate, where another thread of destiny will unravel…
